A birthday gift from Tim some thirteen years ago. It's on his beloved R&S label. Model 500 turns out to be one of Juan Atkins' soubriquets — call me ignorant, but I didn't know that until I checked Wikipedia (and then read the back of the CD a bit more closely!). Atkins is credited as an originator of Techno. An innovator, then. However, along with about half of the 28 albums Tim's given me, I just don't get this music. Neither properly ambient nor sufficiently lively to make me want to dance, it falls between stools.
It's Tim's birthday on Friday. Maybe I'll surprise him with a card; the exchange of musical gifts came to a natural end about five years ago.
