Twinned in my mind and in my collection with Katharine Norman's London. Since these two CDs in the mid-nineties, Katharine doesn't seem to have released many recordings by traditional means, and Martin Archer's Discus Music hasn't really extended this dabbling in "academic" electroacoustic music, returning instead to its home in hybrid improv unclassifiable stuff that can find no home in the academy. So it's as if This Music… were a whimsical detour, or a cul-de-sac, or both.
Katharine's bio says she now works in open access science publishing (coincidentally, as of this month, so do I.) In keeping with that ethos, she's made several of her tracks, including her contribution to This Music is Silent Until You Listen available on her Last.fm page.
I know I'm always going on about Martin Archer, but I do think his account of how his piece A game of poker with Morton Feldman came into being is rather wonderful. It certainly helps lift the actual listening experience…!
