I was so taken with Directing Hand that I wanted everything they'd done, and when I found that their earliest releases had been CD-Rs without regular distribution, I set up a saved search on eBay for them. This release popped up soon afterwards.
It doesn't sound like the same act that made What Put the Blood?, because it's not. Alex Neilson is the common denominator, but there are none of Lavinia Blackwall's distinctive contributions. Instead, Alex's collaborators are drawn from a branch of the noise/improv underground that I'm not familiar with. Though I think I'm right in saying that Alex "paid his dues"" around the Leeds improv scene, which is not a million miles from Sheffield improv scene (about 35 miles, ha ha).
The eBay seller from whom I got the CD was Dylan Nyoukis. I hadn't come across him before, but by coincidence he was interviewed in The Wire around the same time the CD arrived. I was glad the transaction had gone smoothly.
