Luke Vibert and BJ Cole: Stop the Panic

This sounds like it ought to be a gift from Tim. Sorry, Tim, in this particular instance that's not a compliment. What it means is that there's some noodly playing over breakbeat-lite.

Obviously, whenever I'm dismissive, I invite you to dismiss me just as casually — implicitly, or in this case explicitly.

BJ Cole is to pedal steel guitar in the UK what Ken Morse (believed to be the most credited cameraman in history) is to rostrum camera. Everyone who's collaborated with a steel guitar player in this country has collaborated with BJ Cole. This is only a slight distortion of the truth, and this is an incomplete list of his credits. For example, he plays on this album by my friend Steve. I saw him with John Cale once, in Cambridge, around 2002. If only John Cage had still been around, they could have been Cole, Cale & Cage.

I bought Stop the Panic when I was part of the Cooking Vinyl membership scheme. I suspect it may have been one of the reasons I let my membership lapse.
