The nineties were odd. It's probably the decade when music played a more background part in my life, compared with the eighties or this most recent decade. The clusters of the nineties — Madchester, Britpop, drum & bass etc — never seemed worthy of being called "movements", and none of them did much for me. Yet the nineties is the most strongly represented decade in my collection. It was, after all, when music sales peaked, so I guess I'm not alone in this*.
Nevertheless, I was still curious enough to explore two Paul Schütze albums, despite knowing very little about him, so it's not like I was in total hibernation from music. This one I like more than Second Site: it's got more of a flow to it, and more or less anything that uses those gamelan rhythms is OK with me. It feels similar to Jon Hassell's early work, and, as I said about that, it's a bit of an enigma to me.
That's not a bad thing, by any means.
* Thanks to the 50-track-a-month eMusic subscription I've had for the last four years, I may have bought more music in the 2000s, but (a) downloads don't count on Music Arcades and (b) my eMusic buying includes a lot of old stuff, as well as new releases.

I'm not sure if you track comments to old entries or if this will be consigned to the dust and cobwebs. In any event, it was on the basis of this commentary that I looked a little deeper into Paul Schutze. I too took a stab and bought this album just yesterday. I like it a lot. Thank you.
