With these cut-price compilations (£2.99 was cut-price 20 years ago), I usually get into a review of whether they fall into the "labour of love" camp or the "rip-off" camp. This isn't going to be any different, since I'm out of my depth discussing the music. So far we've had one of each for Charlie Parker. Choice Bird seems to be from the good guys: an essay with detailed discussion of the recording sources, including acknowledgement of poor quality where relevant, with dates and names of all the players. It was issued in 1982 on the Jazz Bird label, about which little can be found now, suggesting it didn't last very long.
Be warned that the Last.fm page for this album does not feature the same recordings as are actually on the record. This is most evident in the interview, which is quite different.
