Come to think of it, I can't remember seeing this CD for a very long time. Perhaps I gave it away, or used it to fill a gap in some masonry somewhere. One thing's for sure, up until now, I haven't gone looking for it for at least nine years.
This CD was in the same order as Quasi, one August day in 2000. And, like the Quasi album, it was inspired by a review that made it sound interesting. My threshold for interestingness was at an all time low then. Curiosity knew no bounds. My taste expanded, too, but not nearly as much as my appetite.
My memory is of Fall-lite, but I don't know whether that came from the review or my own listening. Probably the former, because I didn't listen long enough to analyse; just long enough to be sure I didn't like it at all.
…
Aha, Last.fm has almost the whole album. Fall-lite is all wrong. More like falling between the stools of It's Immaterial and Depeche Mode or OMD — with one or two frightening keyboard flourishes of Saga. Much better than I remember — my taste has expanded further, and the lyrics are pretty good — though on balance its misplacement remains less than a tragedy.
