I put this on, remembering very little about it, didn't like it much. I looked it up on Wikipedia and found that Robin Guthrie, one of the three Twins, was on record describing it as "shit… a bad mixture — bad song, bad producer… bad band". From there I followed a link to the allmusic review, which says, more moderately, that it was "not… fully successful", and notes that "The 12" mix [of Peppermint Pig] is all the more unexpected, aiming for the dancefloor in a way which they would never really try again".
Some consensus, then, that this isn't a top-notch release. I bought it, I think, a year or two after it came out, and after I'd got much more memorable Cocteau Twins 12"s like Aikea-Guinea. To complete the set.
Just spent a pleasant half hour browsing round this site at random - the subscribe to blog doesn't seem to work tho, as it brings up a load of html code when clicked.

PS we seem to have about 50% congruence in record collections with the same recurring names

Glad I managed to detain you for as long as 30 minutes. I imagine (and the web stats back this up) most people departing within 30 seconds, with a quizzical WTF expression on their faces.
Regarding the subscribe feature, I guess you're referring to RSS and Atom feeds linked on the home page (musicarcades.com) and at the right hand end of the address bar in some browsers. If you're using Firefox or Safari, these feeds should appear legibly in the browser (they do in mine). But if you're using Internet Explorer or Chrome, you will get a whole load of code. In that case, to 'subscribe' you have to use something called a feed reader, of which there are many available -- I use Google Reader. Explaining feeds is a tricky thing to do in a small space, so usually refer people to the BBC's explanation at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/help/3223484.stm
If I've got completely the wrong end of the stick here, apologies - please tell me.
As for the PS, I reckon about 50% of my collection smells a bit funny, and I'm self-conscious about it. Sometimes I let that show on these pages, but mostly I try and tough it out. So it could be that we are congruent just in the non-smelly bits, or...
