Well, I think I shot my bolt when I wrote about my other July Skies release, and I have precious little to add. So we're about to find out how long I can stretch precious little.
My email says I ordered this album on summer solstice 2002. I know it was one of a few that I bought sound unheard on the strength of endorsements in Tangents (The Russian Futurists are another example; I think we established The Aisler's Set weren't quite unheard). The dates suggest it would have been this review or this essay, or both. Great writing. It won me over, even if the music that inspired it did not.
I'm surprised to see that July Skies have had 16 times as many plays on Last.fm as yesterday's Eighteenth Day of May, notwithstanding their having lasted longer and released more albums.
There: I'm really scraping the barrel now, comparing Last.fm stats. I'll leave you with a video for a July Skies track, not included on Dreaming of Spires. Fasten your seatbelts, and look out for the shock ending.
