I think I bought this mail order, direct from the label (All Saints). It was probably before I got the All Saints sampler, as I think I got The Familiar soon after it came out, and the sampler came two year later, but I can't be sure. Yeah, I know, it's hard to conceive how or why anyone (including me) would care.
As I said there, the Eno and St John pieces are a mix of secular hymns, very English pastoral, which occasionally edges towards French chanson. We Stay Still has always been the centrepiece of the album for me, which means it kind of blurs into one after that — unfortunate, then, that the centrepiece is track 3 of 13.
Still, it's very attractive music, hard to take offense. And in case that sounds like damning with faint praise, I offer these few words from Eno-frère.
