Yo La Tengo: Little Honda

I picked this up from the merch stall at Yo La Tengo's show at the Leadmill in 2000, the first time I saw them, and the first release of theirs I owned.

My copy has just the five tracks — two mixes of Little Honda, No Return, Black Hole and By the Time it Gets Dark — compared with the eight on all the commercially available versions I can find. Not sure why; mine is on Matador (albeit the London W11 branch of Matador), same as all the others.

I didn't realise until today that all the tracks are cover versions — Little Honda, obviously, but the none of the others rang a bell. I ought to have recognised No Return as a Kinks song, as I've got the album it comes from, but, no, I failed.

I'm sure you knew By the Time it Gets Dark was by Sandy Denny, but I didn't.

I had to do some googling to track down Black Hole. Turns out it's by Urinals. Nope, me neither.
