Harold Budd, Ruben Garcia, Daniel Lentz: Music for 3 Pianos

Ever the small-minded cheapskate, I remember buying this CD in HMV in 1997, thinking it was a bargain (then) to get an album for £7; and then being horrified at my own carelessness when the back cover revealed it was little more than an EP — six tracks and just over 20 minutes in total.

It's a slight work all round. Sometimes quite pretty as in the Mertens-like Somos Tres — and The Messenger could substitute for Satie's Gymnopédies in a soft-focus ad. Sometimes it's just that sparsely lush ambient noodling.

I'm not quite clear why the extra two pianos were needed.
