Ah. Now I spot my mistake. It was only when I went to look up Sonny Boy Williamson on Wikipedia that I realised there were two of them. And it's only now I realise there were two Jimmie Rodgerses. This isn't the one I was expecting when I bought the CD (it has no sleeve notes). I remember looking at the tracklisting and wondering how a Jimmie Rodgers Greatest Hits could not have any of his yodel songs on it. Now I understand: different guy, different hits.
But, hell, it was £1 from Fopp — I can remember the days, not much more than a decade ago, when blank CDs cost more than that. And at least one of the hits, Kisses Sweeter Than Wine is one that I'm quite fond of, mainly via Bongwater's much later version. Honeycomb is OK, too. And unlike some bargain basement compilations, these do seem to be genuinely some of Jimmie Rodgers' greatest hits.
As for the other JR, his stuff is plastered all around the free streaming services on the net — who needs one of his CDs?

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Spam? Not spam? I think putting your URL as a link from your name and in the body of the message gives this away as spam. But it's not pimping teen porn, and the spelling and punctuation are much better than in most spam messages. Overall, it's so civil and polite, I can't bring myself to zap it -- which, of course, was exactly as intended.
Betty, if you really do visit again, feel free to tell me I'm a rude, untrusting blockhead.
