Now this record may not technically be mine. Originally it was my sister Hilary who bought it. This would have been around the same time I bought that Shirley Bassey cassette. The reason I bought a cassette and she bought a record was that I had my own cassette player (they were very cheap), while Hilary didn't, so she had to buy things that she could play on my parents' old radiogram. Notwithstanding this purchase, Hils has never been a big music fan. The last time she asked for a CD as a present would have been about 15 years ago: Mary Chapin Carpenter or Nanci Griffith (needless to say, that wasn't the last time I gave her CDs as a present — I mean, give what you know about…), and I'm not sure she's ever had a record player of her own. So that's why this single ended up with me. I can't be sure whether any money changed hands in this transfer of ownership. But I can have a good guess.
The needle on that radiogram has left the record with a period "medium wave transistor radio" sound quality.
