I played this in the office shortly after Gill started working for me, and she liked it — I think she went and bought other releases by Panasonic/Pan Sonic. It's a particular kind of respect a man has for a woman who likes the kind of music — free improv, drone metal or this form of electro-industrial brutal minimalism — that are usually male-only preserves. (I think perhaps it reassures us that all those accusations of liking "asperger's music" may not be entirely justified.) Then again, Gill has always been a Wire-head. And it was a surely a review in The Wire that led me to buy this CD EP.
Both the magazine and the woman were right: it still sounds pretty unique and damn good. Harsh, but good.
