This isn't mine. I never bought it, or listened to it, until now. I think James left it behind in the office when he left. James was funny. We had a tip-off he would make a good student placement, and invited him in for what nowadays they'd probably call an un-interview. He turned up, 19 years old, in jacket and tie, bearing business cards with the URL of the comprehensive website for his hometown that he'd developed from scratch (this was in 1998!). We knew within five minutes that we'd offer him a placement, but sent him away with instructions never to wear a tie again. Even when the atmosphere in the office got fractious, James remained the most mature and unflappable of us all; he just kept out of it, and offered to make the tea. Running his own business now, of course. You couldn't really say my experience as an employer was a success, but I like it that everyone who worked for me went on to set up their own companies and employ others — just like Miles Davis, really, whose sidemen all became bandleaders after parting company with him. No one could argue with that.
Anyway, James, I think this belongs to you. Send me your address, and I'll return it. I've only listened to it once: it's shit and HMV robbed you of £2.99.
