This makes me mad: I can't find the CD. You may remember this happened once before, but I found the missing CD when finally sorting stuff out after the house move. The same reprieve seems a less likely prospect this time. I spent an hour and a half going through every shelf several times, checking that my eye wasn't accidentally skimming over the critical spine. I was not in a good state at the end of that. I felt myself in danger of venting my frustration in Lucy's direction, which is difficult when you know that not being able to find a CD hardly ranks among life's greater hardships. But it matters like hell to me, right now. Lucy was more sympathetic than I deserved. I kept turning it over in my mind, and had this vague feeling I'd seen the CD relatively recently, but then again couldn't swear to having seen it since it was in the Workstation office about nine years ago. What's tantalisingly mysterious is that there's a gap on the shelf between Mary Margaret O'Hara and Sally Doherty & the Sumacs, exactly where you might expect to see Beth Orton — and I don't have any other CDs out that would fit int that gap — as though I have had the CD since we moved and have lent it out to someone. But I know I haven't. And Lucy says she doesn't even like Beth Orton (yes, in my blackest moment, I did look for someone else to blame, and who else is there?).
Update to come here if and when it ever shows up.
