The nature of a lot of ambient music is that it eschews any grand statements or self-publicising hooks. That's not to say that it lacks personality; just that it can take longer for that personality to manifest itself to your ears.
… Which means that if you have a compilation of ambient music, oftentimes the pieces kind of blur into each other at first, as though they were all by a single artist.
That said, some artists like Pansonic always stand out because they have a distinctively relentless hard edge to their sound.
This CD came with The Wire in February 2003, the month after the Berlin club trasmediale festival where the artists performed, and from which it takes its name.
There's nothing wrong with it, but I suspect the chances of me ever digging it out again are pretty slim unless someone or something specifically prompts me to.
