Another discount purchase from 2005. I saw Tyner at the Barbican later that year, too, but unlike the Jack Johnson album, I think that was a coincidence.
Six of these tracks are from the period 1967-1970, a few years after John Coltrane's 'classic quartet' had disassembled; the other two are from the 1980s. To my untutored ear, it's hard to discern Tyner's musical personality from this collection.
I had a similar problem at the gig. Perhaps it was because the World Saxophone Quartet had filled up my music buffer (apparently they overstayed their scheduled support slot which annoyed Tyner because the gig had a fixed end time) and I couldn't process any more. Radio 3 broadcast parts of the gig, and I think I might have a mini-disc of that squirrelled away somewhere.
