Ah, yes, it's Early Music Week here on Music Arcades, and they don't come much earlier than Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179).
I first heard of HvonB through D, an atheist whose favourite music is devotional (see also Arvo Pärt), and she's also a favourite on Late Junction (always in the last hour, of course, to help you wind down for bed). But I didn't pay much attention until I was researching these David Lynch web resources and found that he'd produced an album of HvonB's music called Lux Vivens. That was the album I meant to get from Amazon, but I got this one by mistake.
Annoyed with myself, I had to get the 'proper' David Lynch one a few weeks later. Then soon after that D and I had a falling out — my fault — so I made a mini-disc recording of the Lynch Lux Vivens and posted the original through D's letter box as a peace offering. That helped. Later I remembered that D had a mini-disc player, and wondered why I hadn't given her the copy instead of the original.
