I blame Twin Peaks for the fact that I never watch TV any more (apart from cricket highlights programmes). I haven't seen anything since then that has matched it.
Just a few bars of the opening theme take me straight back to Autumn 1990. And the montage is imprinted deep in the prehistoric part of my brain.
I watched the pilot show and loved it so much that I made Richard V watch it again on the Saturday repeat, after we'd returned to his parents' house from seeing Van Morrison in Guildford. I got the DVDs of the first series in 2003, and watched them all the way through again last year to get Lucy hooked. As soon as the second series is available in the UK, I'll get that too
I didn't get this CD until seven and a half years after the TV series — I had the Julee Cruise Floating into the Night which has versions of the key themes — but had to relent in the end. I like Audrey's Theme because, well, I like Audrey. Ah, Audrey.
