I got this from Spiers or Boden (Paul did tell me which is which, but I forgot almost instantly) at the end of their gig at the Spitz (currently under threat — sign the petition) on 21 September last year. It was one of those days when I was feeling stressed about The Book, and regretted having booked the tickets weeks in advance because I no longer felt I could spare the time. But it was great. Just what I needed: it took me out of myself. Good venue to see them, too — lively audience, and the evening found new energy from nowhere.
So I bought this CD as a memento. It's not as good as seeing them live, but then it's just a memento.
I've yet to see Bellowhead, the Spiers & Boden & friends big band, and I think I should correct that oversight soon.
