I bought this in Our Price in Exeter, when I was down there visiting K in the summer of 1986. In hindsight, it wasn't such a good idea to buy it so far from home, because my copy was missing the infamous H.R. Giger poster. At first, I assumed that this was a case of corporate censorship by Our Price, but when I asked at the Woking branch (where the staff themselves were keen to discuss the matter, being absolutely in favour of the Dead Kennedys and absolutely opposed to censorship), they said there was no such policy and the poster was really good. But, no, I couldn't get it from them — I'd have to take it back to Exeter.
Leaving aside the succès de scandale, the music and songs on this album sound pretty tired and obvious. The Dead Kennedys seemed one of those bands destined to make a fuss and shine brightly for a short while, and then get increasingly tedious by repeating themselves. This was the second and last album of theirs that I bought.
