There's a connection here that I only made when I went to look for the CD. Tim first gave me the album in the late '90s. In fact I had two copies for many years because I think Tim gave me a copy for my birthday, then forgot, and gave me another one for Christmas. He must have seen a stack of them for £1.50 and bought a consignment. I wrote it off as another anonymous block of ambient house (cf. 1, 2). I think at some stage, I off-loaded one of the copies at a CD swapshop event.
But in the last month or two, I've been enjoying Susumu Yokota on Last.fm, and also noticed that Radio 3 have been playing him. As I went to get the CD, I wondered if Susumu Yokota was the same as Yokota. Indeed he is. His discography shows that he releases albums under both names, though he hasn't used Yokota for ten years.
Listening to Cat, Mouse and Me, however, my opinion of it hasn't changed. I prefer the more straightforwardly ambient persona to the one with the bland beats.
