Amazing. I'd almost forgotten I had this album, but I remember it was promoted by the NME as a special mail order offer. It's clearly a labour of love. Detailed sleeve notes by Roy Carr, who has cropped up a couple of times already (here and here) for imaginative NME releases in the 1980s, and this probably won't be the last we hear of him. He's obviously a jazz buff, being the author of A Century of Jazz. There are even notes about the photographer, Herman Leonard.
The date on the label is 1988, and it was produced by NME in association with Spotlite Records. According to their web site, Spotlite had been created twenty years earlier for the express purpose of reissuing the complete Charlie Parker Dial recordings.
