This is a bit of a Sheffield special, bringing together many of the people who also recorded in other groups and collectives. Mark Brydon seems to be credited the main Funky Worm man, and he went on to be half of Moloko. Parrot was part of the Funky Worm before being part of the All Seeing I, and Sim Lister also plays on this. I don't know what else Sim did, but I remember Tim saying Hi to him quite often in the Rutland. The record was recorded at FON Studios — see an explanation of the FON acronym — and the cover is a fairly early example of The Designers Republic work.
I bought this in 1988, probably in the FON shop on Division Street, before I knew any of this (most of it hadn't happened yet, after all). The track is so knowingly tongue in cheek that it's hard to take seriously, but I guess they did want to be taken seriously. My 7" single has two versions of the track, Radio I and Radio II, which sound indistinguishable on a casual listen. The 12" single had other versions.
