Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire: The Swimming Hour

This has never happened before (as men of my age are wont to say). I opened the jewel case, and there's no CD in it.

I bought this from Andrew Bird himself at a gig at the Boardwalk in Sheffield in 2001. He was supporting the Handsome Family, but I enjoyed his set more.

The horrible thought flashes through my mind that maybe he sold me an empty CD case, and I didn't notice until today. But I don't think that's true; I think I played it once or twice soon after I got it, but not enough to be able to remember much about it now, except that it was less commercial than the stuff of his I've heard on the radio since.

Could the CD have been in the player I gave to my nieces (and which they then said they didn't want, and chucked out)?
