I can't remember why I bought this. The 'when' was the late 1980s, and I think the 'where' was Record Collector in Broomhill.
I saw Psychic TV play live in 1986. In fact, it was the first gig I ever went to at the Leadmill. I remember thinking they sounded a bit like The Fall that night — quite different from how they sound here. Genesis P. Orridge had a top hat, and there was a very good Situationist stall at the back selling magazines and pamphlets, many of which I still have. Features analysing the revolutionary intent of If… and stuff like that.
But none of that is enough to explain why I bought this album a few years later. I think it was just speculative curiosity. The kind that acknowledges that it can lead to mistakes, and I pretty quickly decided this was a mistake. On listening again at least fifteen years since I last tried, I'm not revising my opinion. I know nothing at all of La Loora, but there is one track on their side that sounded OK for a bit.
