The lead track on this EP is the Future Bible Heroes' best piece of hi-NRG electro dance pop. The lyrics are some of Stephin Merritt's most amusing tongue-in-cheek miserable: "I'm as lonely as Narcissus gazing in his mirrored pond / wearing all the clothes you hate and going back to blond / staying up all hours in my seedy demi-monde / If you have something to tell me, please don't correspond". Should have been a hit.
The other new song on the EP was Good Thing I Don't Have Any Feelings, which sounds just like the poor relation to I'm Lonely on the recorded version. But when the Future Bible Heroes performed at the first Chickfactor Ball, Stephin Merritt sang it with just his ukulele, plus an occasional four-note keyboard intervention by Claudia Gonson, for accompaniment, and it nearly made my heart break.
