I collected quite a few William Burroughs spoken word albums in the late '80s. Some were rendered redundant by the boxed set of CDs released the year after his death. For example, the title track from this album is actually the same as the (better sound quality) track Doctor Pierson included on the boxed set. However, there are also a few tracks here not on other albums that I know of.
This page from the record label explains how the album was originally released, and then deleted when John Giorno complained it consisted of bootleg recordings of material already released on his label.
I got this from HMV on Pinstone Street in Sheffield — as you can see from the photo, my copy still has its price tag and the remains of its shrink-wrap covering (I know what you're thinking) — you can see my reflection if you look closely. I remember the guy at the checkout giving me an approving nod for my selection. I thought it was ironic that HMV were even stocking Burroughs. Around that time, they were the subject of some censorship controversy for refusing to stock the Microdisney album We Hate You White South African Bastards and something else that I've forgotten by the Flux of Pink Indians.
