And there I was talking about the singers on the second 6ths' album (see yesterday), and the roll of the dice throws up one of them: Neil Hannon. In another coincidence, the cover of A Short Album About Love says the album was recorded at Shepherds Bush Empire, the venue where I saw Hannon performing with Stephin Merritt and the 6ths on 1 November 2000.
If it weren't for Hannon's connection with Stephin Merritt, it's very unlikely I'd have any Divine Comedy albums. The idea is that if you like Merritt's work, you should like Hannon's because they both put the love song under the analytical microscope and re-cast it with a knowing wink. Despite knowing that Merritt doesn't set much store by moving his listeners emotionally, I can't help but be moved by his songs. While I suspect Hannon would like me to be moved by his songs, I am not, even if I try to be.

I guess I was busy that day, else I'd have been more verbose in my indifference (see other entries for proof).
