This would have been the first 'krautrock' album I bought, if you don't count Tangerine Dream or Kraftwerk (which I don't). It would have been '86 or '87; there's a Virgin price label for £6.49, which probably means the Oxford Street Virgin Megastore — so it was a few years before I bought early Can, and fifteen before I bought Neu.
The rhythm of the first track, It's a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl, did for me straight away, and still counts as a kind of benchmark for this kind of music, to my mind. It's strange to put it on again and hear how completely different the second track is.
My copy is the 1979 re-issue by the amazing Recommended Records: the cover, inner sleeve and label are all completely black; there's only text on the one-sided insert.
I bought another Faust album a while after this, but I don't remember it being as good.
