I got this on the basis of a good review in The Wire and a desire to check out something from the David Tibet/Nurse with Wound/Coil scene.
I didn't like it much when I first listened to it, and it became shelfware until I put it on again today. I don't like it much now, either. All that sturm und drang and muttering about the devil as though you're Aleister Crowley. I bracket it with Diamanda Galas and Cindytalk. I'd like to give all these people a good tickle.
I mean, I'm sure there are things I could come to like on this album, but that goes for hundreds of others too and the others are more inviting somehow. The tracks I'm most likely to come back to are those with guest vocals by Nick Cave and Shirley Collins.
