Various: Greatest Hits Volume 1 (The Word, Issue 50)

I've been fairly consistently sniffy about these covermount CDs from Word magazine, but had to admit that there were four tracks that I was interested to hear on the last one featured here. This Greatest Hits is significantly better even than that with full 10 out of the 15 tracks by artists I like without (in most cases) owning more than a few downloads by them (as before, Beirut and Susanna are included in this). Even the other five tracks are ones I wouldn't cross the road to avoid. There you go: damning with faint praise. I'm so snarky and grudging even when giving compliments.
