I like the tracks by Scala and Solex on this, and those by Nassim Maalouf and Schneider™ are good, too. With this compilation being ten years old, I wondered if some of the artists might have moved on and got proper jobs by now. Solex still seems to be active, but there is no sign of Scala since their fourth album in 1999.
One of the things I like about The Wire — though I guess it's becoming increasingly common for other music magazines — is that the artists they cover span such a large age range, and more or less anyone, regardless of age or looks, can be on their cover. Roedelius was still a year short of retirement age when his track was included on this CD, but he's still gigging ten years on.
