Cluster and Eno: Cluster and Eno

Cluster and EnoThere are lots of repeating motifs in the randomness of Music Arcades at the moment. Four Neil Young entries in the last three weeks; more dub in the last month than you can shake a bass bin at; and, along with other ambient interludes, the second Teuton-Eno collaboration in a month. [Lots of anagram potential in Teuton-Eno: One Net Out, To One Tune, and 40 others.]

What can these motifs mean? One summer night I was walking home from Sheffield city centre and in the space of 25 minutes, I heard snatches of three Billy Joel songs: Uptown Girl coming from a bar, Tell Her About It from a car paused at traffic lights, and We Didn't Start the Fire from a bedroom window. If ancient civilisations divined the future from the alignment of stars in the night sky, shouldn't I be able to decipher something about my destiny from that uncanny coincidence? Possibly that it was time to leave town.

Anyway Cluster & Eno is basically the same three guys as Eno, Moebius, Roedelius, since Cluster = Moebius + Roedelius. I think this is their first album together, and, to my ears, it's much the most satisfying.
