Being a compilation of Billy's work from 1984 and 1991. This was his jazz era. He's already being postmodern: the titles include Sade's Lips, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Discobeats at Two O'Clock has a slightly ska feel in places. And there's a piece called The Blues, but it's not the same blues that you get later on S.A.D..
There's also some of the trademark humour, but little of no explicit clowning.
Paradoxically the track that really hits home, as it did on Scratches of Spain is Cooking Oil. It's the one track that Billy doesn't play on, and there's no tongue-in-cheek winking. It sounds more like something that Gavin Bryars might have written.
Here's a proper review if you want one.
